- There will be access to protective equipment for the staff in our preschools and schools with students in the younger ages. If a child shows symptoms, our staff should be able to use protection until the parents come and pick up the child, says Hörby municipality's school principal, Caroline Åkesson Larsson.

The staff should be able to put on gloves, an apron, a visor and a mouth guard if a child suddenly falls ill during school hours.

- We will not walk around in protective equipment all the time but use it when needed, says Caroline Åkesson Larsson.

Ready for autumn

She believes that the measure is part of the school's preventive work before the autumn term.

- Now that we are moving towards colder times, we will not be able to stand outdoors with a child who becomes ill. We need to be able to go into a room with the child until it is picked up. We work preventively and do not want to rush this protective equipment in October. It should be available when the semester starts again, says Caroline Åkesson Larsson.

Enough for several

According to the school principal, Hörby municipality has conducted a dialogue with the unions, other municipalities, home care and social services and concluded that it was possible to redistribute some of the resources so that they are also enough for school staff.

- After this spring, many municipalities have large stocks. For our part, the redistribution will not affect the home care service at all. There will be access to equipment already now if there is a need for leisure time and the preschools that are open in the summer, says Hörby's school principal Caroline Åkesson Larsson.
