The head of the Central Court of Instruction Number 6 of the National High Court Manuel García Castellón has summoned to declare next Monday as investigated at 9:30 a.m. the former number two of the Ministry of the Interior Francisco Martínez for the Kitchen operation, according to legal sources .

The instructor agreed to this summons after the Council of Ministers authorized Tuesday the appearance of Martínez in court to respond without restrictions on the so-called Operation Kitchen, the police device designed to spy on former treasurer of the Popular Party Luis Bárcenas in the middle of the war for the irregular financing of the popular ones .

As EL MUNDO reported, yesterday the government gave the green light to García Castellón to question the former Secretary of State for Security without limitations on the "para-police" operation that fully affects the management of the State's reserved funds. It was precisely Martínez's defense, charged in this separate piece of the Villarejo case , that asked the instructor to raise the authorization to the Government to declare without hindrance and thus be able to fully exercise his right of defense.

The accusation of Martínez came after the commissioner Enrique García Castaño , former head of the Central Operational Support Unit (UCAO) of the National Police and one of the main perpetrators in Kitchen , confessed to the judge and the Anticorruption prosecutors who handed over to the former number two of the Ministry of the Interior a flash drive with material stolen from Luis Bárcenas.

Martinez's defense

This confession also caused the magistrate to agree to the entry and search of the former number two of Jorge Fernández Díaz at the home with the aim of seizing half a dozen messages that were exchanged between the former Secretary of State and former minister with police officers who were at your orders.

For his part, he has brought to the court half a dozen messages that he has collected in recent months, within the framework of his defense strategy, to try to document that the operation was carried out within the law and without the intention of incriminating or neither to his superiors nor to the policemen in charge of him.

The Kitchen operation has been classified by the Anticorruption Prosecutor's Office as a "parapolice" operation and has motivated the imputation of all the police officers who participated in it, including Commissioner José Manuel Villarejo, former DAO Eugenio Pino and the former Commissioner García Castaño.

In said operation, documents were stolen from Bárcenas about the illegal financing of the PP, his messages with high party officials such as Mariano Rajoy, and his personal and work agendas.
