The MotoGP season which begins on Sunday should not be the last in Valentino Rossi's career, who assured Wednesday that he will be "99%" on track next season.

"I want to continue racing and it is almost certain that I will be at Yamaha-Petronas in 2021," said the forty-something Italian (41) to the Italian channel Sky Sport.

"We are chatting with the guys from the Petronas team. It is not true that I have already signed, we are far from it. For now, we are chatting but I can say 99% that I will still be in track next season, "added Rossi.

The seven-time world champion (2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2008, 2009) but who has not won since 2017, is preparing to play his last season for the factory Yamaha team. He will be replaced there in 2021 by the young Frenchman Fabio Quartararo, a revelation from last season.

Since the arrival of Quartararo was announced, there was a certain uncertainty around the future of Rossi, who had to choose between continuing with a less prestigious team and ending his immense career.
