The investigation into the murder of Christopher Aurier, who was shot dead on Monday in Toulouse, has just taken a big step forward. A man was placed in police custody Tuesday evening for the death of the brother of the Ivorian footballer Serge Aurier.

Killed outside a nightclub

The man presented himself around 6:00 p.m. at the central police station in Toulouse to confess to the murder, said a police source. Christopher Aurier, 26, died Monday morning after being transferred to hospital. He had been rescued at the scene of the shooting, in an industrial area on the outskirts of Toulouse, injured in the abdomen. According to the regional daily La Dépêche, he was killed outside a nightclub. Witnesses evoke "a romantic dispute" which could have been at the origin of this deadly assault, the newspaper said.

Little brother of the Ivorian international footballer, Christopher Aurier also played football, but at an amateur level, licensed at Toulouse Rodéo (5th division). "Unfavorably known to justice" according to a police source, he was trained at RC Lens like his older brother Serge.
