July 15, 2020 The new group that will be born from the merger between FCA and PSA will be called Stellantis, from the Latin verb 'stello' which means 'to be illuminated with stars'. "The choice of the name marks an important step towards the completion of the joint merger (50/50), as defined in the Combination Agreement of 18 December 2019", underline the two companies.

As previously indicated, the merger between FCA and PSA is expected to be completed by the end of the first quarter of 2021, subject to compliance with the usual closing conditions, including approval by the shareholders of both companies in the respective Extraordinary Shareholders' Meetings and compliance with antitrust and other regulatory requirements. ' The two car groups communicate it in a note.

The name Stellantis, as specified in the joint note, will be used exclusively at Group level, as a Corporate Brand. The next step in the process will be the presentation of a logo which, with the name, will define the identity of the new Group.

The pre-existing names and logos of the individual constituent brands of the Stellantis Group will remain unchanged. The name - reads the note - "draws inspiration from this new and ambitious alignment of legendary car brands and strong corporate cultures that, by joining together, are in the process of creating one of the new leaders in the next era of mobility, while preserving both value exceptional of the whole is the values ​​of the individual constituent parts ".

Stellantis, it is further specified, "'will combine the dimension of a truly global group with an extraordinary breadth and depth of talent, know-how and resources to provide the sustainable mobility solutions of the next decades. The Latin origins of the name pay homage to the long and important history of the two founding companies while the evocation of astronomy recalls the spirit of optimism, energy and renewal at the basis of this union that will change the automotive sector ".

The process of identifying the new name began immediately after the announcement of the Combination Agreement on 18 December 2019 and the senior management of both companies was actively involved during the entire process, supported by Publicis Group.
