Anthony Fauchi, the chief US expert in infectious diseases, said that the states will achieve their goal of developing a successful vaccine against the emerging coronavirus before the end of this year.

In an interview with Reuters on Wednesday, Fauchi said that there are no absolute guarantees to develop a successful vaccine against Corona virus before the end of this year, but he added: "I have a good feeling about the planned schedule."

Fauchi, who during the pandemic was very popular among American citizens because of his role in clarifying several issues related to the virus, said that the vaccine developed by Moderna is more promising than the first candidate vaccines, because it gives the type of protection that was monitored with natural infection.

Commenting on the progress of international competition in the area of vaccine development, the prominent American scientist said it is unlikely that China will reach this goal before everyone else, but he pointed out that the subject of the winner in this race does not matter much.

He said: "I think we are all in one way. Even if it was the first China to cross it, it will not go far ahead of us."

Fawushi also pointed out that it is not yet clear how long the immune response from the vaccine will work if it is developed, and he considered that this question would require a significant time that could take up to about a year to determine the response to it.

And a group of countries are competing globally to produce the first successful vaccine against the emerging coronavirus, whose pandemic has killed about 580,000 people worldwide.
