One effect of the coronavirus is that more people visit nature reserves, but this also means that the staff has to tell visitors every day to connect their dogs.

- It is a clear increase. The dog has also become more common, says Fredrik Ståhlberg at the County Administrative Board of Skåne and head of the Stenshuvud National Park.

All year round, it is forbidden to have the dog loose in national parks and nature reserves, but still many release their animals, which can harm nature, according to the county administrative board.

- We are in protected nature and a stray dog likes to run and sniff and become a direct threat to the species we want to protect in the area, says Fredrik Ståhlberg.

Visitors find it problematic

Several visitors to the park have their dog with them, but for most it is a matter of course that the dog is on a leash.

- Our dogs are not so well behaved that we could let them loose. It is not an option. It is a leash that applies, says Stina Larsson who visits Stenshuvud with her two dogs.

Jonas Martinsson is also visiting with his dog.

- When you get a little remote, people think it's okay to let go of the dogs. I usually tell people, several times a week, he says.
