The number of cases of contamination with coronavirus identified worldwide, Monday, July 13, the threshold of 13 million, an increase of one million in just five days. To stem the tide, the authorities of several countries decided to reconfigure.

  • Europe

Spain: The regional government of Catalonia ordered on July 12 the confinement to their homes of 200,000 inhabitants of Lleida and surrounding municipalities, arousing a standoff with the justice system, which judged this decision "contrary to law".

Portugal: In the Lisbon region, a new home confinement has been decided since July 1 for 700,000 inhabitants of twenty neighborhoods, for at least two weeks.

United Kingdom: On June 29, the British government reconfigured the city of Leicester, closing non-essential stores. The wearing of the mask will be compulsory in all stores in England from July 24th.

  • Asia

India: The state of Bihar reconfigures from July 16 for two weeks its 125 million inhabitants. In the South, the 13 million inhabitants of the megalopolis of Bangalore and its region have been reconfigured since Tuesday for 10 days.

Philippines: Six weeks after the end of confinement, approximately 250,000 residents of Manila will again be confined for two weeks.  

Azerbaijan: The small Caspian country imposed a new strict confinement of its population from June 22 after a jump in coronavirus infections, until August 1.

Uzbekistan: New containment has been in place since July 10. Restaurants, sports halls, swimming pools and non-food shops are closed until August 1st.

  • Americas

United States: The State of California tightened, Monday, July 13, restrictions for shops, including generalizing the closure of bars, restaurants, cinemas and zoos throughout the territory.

Argentina: The capital Buenos Aires and its metropolitan region, where 14 million people live and where more than 90% of contamination cases are concentrated, was again placed in strict confinement from July 1 to 17 in an attempt to curb the spread of the virus. 

Colombia: The city of Bogota, the main focus of the country's pandemic, has strengthened containment since Monday, with "strict quarantines" by areas. Almost 2.5 million people will take turns staying at home.

French Guiana: On June 25, the prefecture decided to close all the bars and restaurants, targeted containment of around 20 new districts, and the tightening of the curfew. The epidemic continues to spread in this French territory of 290,000 inhabitants bordering Brazil. The peak of the epidemic is not expected before mid-July.

  • Oceania

Australia: Five million people have been confined to her home since July 9 and for six weeks in Melbourne, the second largest city in Australia. The state of Victoria, where Melbourne is located, has closed all of its borders in order to preserve the rest of Australia, which has so far managed to contain the Covid-19 epidemic.

  • Middle East

Israel: New restrictions came into effect on July 7, such as closing bars and gyms, or limiting the number of people in public places. Some cities and districts considered to be centers of infection are subject to more stringent restrictions.

West Bank: The Palestinian Authority extended Sunday, July 12, the closure of the occupied West Bank decided on July 3, adding the establishment of a curfew.

  • Africa

Madagascar: The capital Antananarivo has been placed in containment again since July 5. The region of Analamanga, of which the capital is a part, is closed to all traffic until July 20. Only one person per household has the right to go out.

Algeria: The authorities ordered on July 9 the reconfiguration of two municipalities on the border with Tunisia, 10 municipalities of Tipasa and the confinement of all the municipalities of the prefecture of Ouargla. These measures came two days after a similar decision concerning 18 communes in Sétif.

Morocco: The city of Tangier, a metropolis of around one million inhabitants in northern Morocco, has been reconfigured since Monday July 13.

South Africa: A curfew from 9 p.m. to 4 a.m. has been in effect in the country since Monday, July 13.
