The accident occurred shortly after 4 pm on Monday afternoon, when two cars collided on highway 40 between Jönköping and Bottnaryd.
- The accident seems to have occurred when the older driver was about to cross the road in his car and missed that another car came, the police write on their website. The man was first taken to Ryhov County Hospital but was transported to the University Hospital in Linköping. He was confirmed dead from the injuries late Monday night.
In the other car sat a man in his 20s who was also taken to hospital but who was not judged to have suffered serious injuries.
The accident will be investigated further.
