Many of the Norwegian tourists refer to the fact that they do not dare to come because Sweden has chosen a different corona strategy than Norway and currently has much higher death rates.

- I called one of our regulars from Tromsö the other day to hear if they still do not intend to come this year and when he answered he said: "Well you call from the cemetery", says Peter Englund at Boden's camping & bath.

Hoping for homeowners

But Peter Englund still hopes that some local people will fill parts of the campsite this special summer.

- We are trying to reach them now, says Peter Englund.

Had you invested more in getting more local guests here , you might not have been as fragile now - do you regret that you have invested almost everything in one card as the majority of your guests are Norwegians who are not coming now?

- No, absolutely not, because this is a temporary notch in the curve. It is not we who have invested in the Norwegians, but those who have invested in us, and I hope that they will return when this is over, because the whole of Boden is enormously dependent on the Norwegians - both the trade and the hospitality industry, says Peter Englund.

On the contrary at Rörbäck's camping

At Rörbäck's small campsite in Råneå, there was great concern about how much the corona pandemic would affect the number of guests this summer. There, the unrest proved to be unjustified. Even before the holiday period has begun, a record number of homeowners have already lived at Rörbäck's camping in Råneå or booked caravan pitches for later this summer.

Martin Forsberg runs the campsite and says that they usually have so few camping guests that some do not even book a place but just go there and park.

- But for example last weekend it was overcrowded and it has never happened before in May. Unfortunately, we were forced to say no to some guests, he says.
