South Africa is expected to reach a peak in the number of infected corona virus between July and September and a total of 4,079 people in the country have died in covid-19.

Earlier during the pandemic, alcohol sales in the country were banned for three months, to free up places in the country's hospitals.

But since the ban was lifted on June 1, the burden on health care has increased.

More fights and more violence in relationships

Therefore, the ban is now being reintroduced and is effective immediately, South Africa's president Cyril Ramaphosa said, according to the AP.

Alcohol drinking in the country is linked, among other things, to an increased number of people injured in fights and more cases of violence in close relationships, the BBC writes.

"Some people have organized parties, have parties where there are superpowers, and move around in mouthguards in places where there are a lot of people," says the president according to the BBC.

Curfew is reintroduced

At the same time, curfews are also reintroduced during the nights. It also becomes mandatory to use mouth guards when moving out among other people.

- The increase in the number of infected persons was expected, but the speed at which this has occurred has caused great concern. Many of us are afraid of the dangers it poses, both for ourselves and our families, says Cyril Ramaphosa, according to AP.
