The Libyan army affiliated to the National Accord Government announced that it will strengthen its defense system in preparation for a possible battle in the city of Sirte, and will form a joint force to secure the western region after the forces of retired Major General Khalifa Haftar were expelled from it.

Brigadier-General Ibrahim Beit Al-Mal, the commander of the Sirte and Al-Jafra operations room, affiliated to the Al-Wefaq government, said yesterday that the head of the Presidential Council of the Al-Wefaq government, Fayez al-Sarraj, and military leaders had agreed during a meeting held on Saturday in Tripoli to increase technical support for the fighting hubs in western Sirte, and to improve the defense system more and more broadly. .

On the page of the Sirte Al-Jafra Operations Room on Facebook, Beit Al-Mal added that this came after the monitoring of Haftar forces in the area between Sirte (450 kilometers east of Tripoli) and Al-Jafra.

Al-Sarraj, in his capacity as Commander in Chief of the Libyan Army, discussed with the commanders of the western military regions, Tripoli, and the Central District, and the commander of the Sirte al-Jafra operations room; The military situation in the country in general, the readiness of the forces in the various regions, the conduct of operations in the Sirte Al-Jafra region, in addition to reviewing the procedures for securing the liberated areas.

The meeting discussed the organization of the military establishment, the mechanisms for implementing the program of merging and assimilating the supportive military formations, and programs for developing defense military capabilities for Al-Wefaq forces, within the framework of partnership programs with a number of friendly countries.

Al-Sarraj and the military leaders held a meeting at a time when the Al-Wefaq government forces continue to reinforce their forces west of the city of Sirte in anticipation of a battle that Libyan activists on the communication sites say is close. It also comes in exchange for Haftar's forces continuing to reinforce their positions in the city, supported by Sudanese and Chadian armed groups, as well as Russian mercenaries from the "Wagner Company".

The Al-Wefaq forces, following their control of the southern outskirts of Tripoli and the city of Tarhuna (80 km southeast of the capital), started in early June; I started heading towards Sirte, but the front lines have not changed since then. While Libyan officials affirm the determination of the Al-Wefaq government to restore Sirte and Al-Jafra base; International forces are trying to avoid a new military escalation in Libya, while countries supporting Haftar are trying to dissuade the internationally recognized Libyan government from moving east, after their forces have reached the outskirts of Sirte.

Military crowd

And the Operation "Anger Volcano" - on its Facebook page - added that these military reinforcements of Haftar forces are heading to the city of Sirte, which is controlled by Haftar forces backed by the mercenaries of the Russian company "Wagner", the Janjaweed and the Syrians.

In this context, the spokesman for the Sirte and Al-Jafra Operations Room of the National Accord Government, Brigadier-General Abdul Hadi Drah, said yesterday that some countries that claim to want Libya's stability and security are still continuing to support Haftar.

Derah added that my Russian-made Pansier system arrived in the city of Sirte (central Libya), in addition to military equipment and equipment loaded on trucks that entered the Qardabiya base (south of Sirte).

For his part, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşo أوlu reiterated his country's position in support of the Al-Wefaq government, and said that the Libyan government does not accept a ceasefire in the country except in the event that the Haftar militia withdraws from Sirte and Al-Jafra, and returns to the Skhirat agreement line.

Ihsanoglu warned - in an interview with the British Financial Times yesterday - that the escalation of tensions could lead to a direct conflict between foreign forces supporting the various parties in Leba.

On the other hand, a security force , Major General Osama Goueili, issued the order of the joint operations room in the western region of the Government of National Accord; A decision to form a joint force of 500 participating units to repel the attack on Tripoli.

The joint force shall secure the entrances and exits of the western region, control the movement of mechanisms and weapons, and evacuate public and private headquarters from groups stationed in violation of the law, and hand them over to the official authorities.

The resolution mandated the joint force to arrest armed gangs that threaten public and private institutions, confiscate mechanisms and weapons, and combat smugglers of irregular migrants, fuel, and food commodities.
