A 25-year-old man was arrested Thursday, July 9 near Sées (Orne), after a chase with the police. In hit and run, and after failing to kill a police officer, the driver was indicted for "attempted murder person holding public authority," says West France .

Shortly before 10 p.m. on the evening of the events, the young man came to provoke the police at the wheel of his vehicle, just outside the police station in Alençon. He then fled, chased by officials, before forcing a first police checkpoint. His mad race was finally stopped a little further. The fugitive ran into a gendarmerie vehicle on a second roadblock.

He recognizes the facts

During a reconstruction of the scene the following day, the investigators demonstrated that it "had accelerated shortly before the roadblock and made a deliberate departure towards a police officer who had to throw himself on the hood of a police car placed in roadblock, so as not to be hit, "said the public prosecutor, François Coudert, quoted by the regional daily.

The suspect, who admitted the facts in police custody, has already been sentenced to a two-month suspended prison sentence for violence with a weapon. He was placed in pre-trial detention.
