The German Health Minister warned today, Monday, that the "threat" of a second wave of new cases of Corona virus (Covid-19) is "real", calling on his fellow citizens on vacation in the Balearic Islands to respect preventive measures.

Jens and young men expressed his concern, especially about the situation on the main island of Majorca, the Balearic Islands, which is visited by German tourists.

The local newspaper Mallorca Zeitung condemned "the state of anarchy, as if no one had ever heard of an epidemic."

"The scenes that we received at the weekend from Mallorca, the favorite island of the Germans, are of concern to us," the minister added during a press conference organized with the Robert Koch Institute, in charge of Germany, the epidemiological monitoring process.

The minister warned, "We have to be vigilant so that the baller does not turn into a new place", the ski resort in Austria, where pubs abound and this winter turns a major European focus of the Covid-19 outbreak.

Video footage revealed dozens of drunken German or British tourists celebrating hustle and bustle in the streets of Majorca without putting up masks or respecting the social estrangement.

"I am not here to spoil the joy ... but the time is not right to celebrate," said the minister.

"The risks of registering a second wave of injuries are real," he said, and he fears a new rise in cases in Germany as tourists return from their holidays in Europe.

On Monday, Germany officially registered 198963 new cases with Covid-19 (+159 within 24 hours) and 9,064 deaths (+1), according to the Robert Koch Institute.
