The race for the Presidency of Poland is open and tight, according to the first polls to the closing of ballot boxes in the Central European country. Neo-conservative candidate and outgoing President Andrzej Duda would get 50.4% of the vote compared to 49.6% for his liberal rival and current Warsaw mayor Rafal Trzaskowski .

Participation was high: 68.9%. This is the first presidential elections held after the Covid-19 coup.

"I want to thank everyone who voted for me," said Duda as soon as he learned the results of the Ipsos survey.

"We will wake up tomorrow in a completely new Poland," said Trzaskowski , without throwing in the towel and hoping to win.

"These elections will decide whether we join Hungary and Eastern Europe or whether we return to the West," political analysts said these days. The polls are currently making that decision.
