12 July 2020Head tightened in the second round of the presidential elections in Poland.

According to the exit polls conducted by Ipsos, the outgoing conservative president, Andrzej Duda, would have obtained 50.4% of the votes, while the liberal and pro-European challenger, the current mayor of Warsaw, Rafal Trzaskowski, 49.6%.

Electoral participation was very high, reaching 68.9%. Official results on Monday morning.

Ipsos warns that the winner cannot be indicated on the basis of these data, since the statistical error is approximately two points. Furthermore, exit polls did not take into account the vote cast abroad (by mail order) by around 500,000 Poles.

In the first round of June 28, Duda had taken the lead with 43.5%, while Trzaskowski had gained 30.4%.
