The English club Aston Villa has pledged to investigate and banish for life a supporter who sent racist insults to the player of Crystal Palace Wilfried Zaha, who released Sunday screenshots of the messages received before the match of Premier League between the two teams.

Zaha posted three screenshots of racist messages sent to her account on Instagram by an Aston Villa fan on her Twitter account, including an image from the Ku Klux Klan, a white American supremacist organization.

"We deplore the disgusting racist messages sent to @wilfriedzaha," Aston Villa immediately responded to the Birmingham club's official Twitter account.

"We condemn all forms of racial discrimination and we join Crystal Palace in this process. We are working with the police to investigate this extremely serious matter and when the culprit is identified Aston Villa will ban him for life", adds the club .

All Premier League clubs have been involved in an anti-racism campaign since the championship resumed last month, including logos bearing the campaign slogan "Black Lives Matter".

"This is an absolute scandal and it must not happen. We are with you, Wilf, and with all those who suffer from such abuse," writes for his part Crystal Palace, the club of Zaha, on his Twitter account.
