In the United States, the country's health authorities urge everyone to wear mouthguards when they are among people, to reduce the risk of spreading the corona virus.

But President Donald Trump, unlike many other US politicians, has not made it public.

Concern about looking weak

People in his vicinity have said he is worried he might look weak if he wears mouth protection, according to the news agency AP.

At the same time, the president, despite refusing to wear it himself, has said that they may be suitable indoors in places where many people are staying.

Visited military hospital

When Trump wore mouth protection during Sunday's visit to a military hospital, it was the first time he was seen wearing it in public.

"When you are in a hospital, I think it's a good idea to wear a mouthguard," the president said when he left the White House for the visit, according to AP.

During the hospital visit, Trump met with injured defense personnel and healthcare professionals who care for corona patients.
