The Health Department of the Generalitat has reported that 816 new cases of coronavirus have been registered in Catalonia in the last few hours, which is about 450 more than in the previous balance. These figures brings the number of infected to 76,318 since the start of the pandemic. Among the most affected areas is Barcelona city, with some 250 cases, Lleida with 240, of which 190 have focused on the Segrià region and 152 on the southern Metroplitana health region, which includes Hospitalet de Llobregat.

There are also two people in serious condition and a new fatality, according to the count of the funeral homes. Thus, the number of deaths in Catalonia due to coronaviruses, between confirmed and suspected cases, stands at 12,617. Of these, 6,903 have died in a hospital or socio-sanitary center, 4,112 in a nursing home and 799 at home, while the remaining cases are considered not classifiable due to lack of information.

There are currently 44 people who remain in intensive care units, although 4,183 people have been seriously admitted to Catalan hospitals since the start of the pandemic until now. In addition, in the last hours, a total of 40,210 hospital discharges of people diagnosed with coronavirus have been registered. In nursing homes 15,132 people have been diagnosed as positive for this disease.
