Reassure, quickly. Prime Minister Jean Castex assured Sunday from Cayenne that "the Republic has spared no means" for Guyana, facing the coronavirus epidemic, welcoming that "the epidemiological situation seems to be improving" but calling for the "vigilance". Guyana, still under a health emergency like Mayotte, had 6,102 confirmed coronavirus cases and 26 deaths on Sunday.

"All human materials and reinforcements continue to be dispatched"

"I note with satisfaction that under the authority of my predecessor Edouard Philippe, the Republic as it should have spared no means to face the terrible episode that you are going through," said the head of government in an address, after his visit to the inter-ministerial crisis center.

"All human materials and reinforcements continue to be sent to stem the epidemic", tweeted the Minister of Health Olivier Véran who is participating in this trip.

"I understand that the epidemiological situation seems to be improving, and that is a good thing," hailed Jean Castex, noting that "the mobilization of the State and all public services is not unrelated to this situation" , even if "probably everything was not perfect".

Redesigned neighborhoods

"The fight against the epidemic supposes that the behavior of our fellow citizens (...) is exemplary to prevent the virus from spreading" and "I can understand the impatience of the Guyanese population", continued Jean Castex, while a curfew is in force and that certain districts or certain communes have been reconfigured.

"However, you will have to remain vigilant," he warned. In mainland France, a certain relaxation in the respect of barrier gestures was observed but the Prime Minister concentrated his remarks on the French territory of South America. Globally praising "France at the forefront" in the economic and social support of the crisis, he stressed that "the length of the crisis in Guyana is increasing" its impact.

The Minister of Overseas Sébastien Lecornu who accompanies him remains on Monday in the territory and "on his return, he will tell me whether it is appropriate in whole or in part to strengthen these support systems," added Jean Castex. The new Prime Minister reiterated the "total commitment of the Republic" to Guyana and sent on behalf of Emmanuel Macron a "message of solidarity". His express visit "is also a gesture of affection, friendship and recognition of (s) apart for the benefit of all overseas territories".
