The Consell de Govern Balear has approved the decree that regulates the sanctions that will be imposed when the security regulations established to contain the spread of the coronavirus epidemic are breached , and that sets fines of up to 600,000 euros for the commercialization of events in public spaces or private and up to 60,000 for the celebration of parties .

The Minister of Public Administrations and Modernization, Isabel Castro , has announced that this decree will serve to deal "effectively" with the resolution and processing of disciplinary proceedings in the event of non-compliance with the regulations of the health authorities in the face of "the new normality".

The new standard, which has already entered into force and will continue for the duration of the pandemic, classifies sanctions as light, serious and very serious .

Among the sanctions considered slight , which will carry fines ranging from 100 euros to 3,000 euros , include non-compliance with the mandatory use of the mask , the fact that an establishment open to the public, does not offer information to users about schedules, capacity , social distance and use of masks, and exceed the limits of capacity or maximum number of people allowed in establishments or activities when they affect less than 15 people.

The decree establishes sanctions ranging from 3,001 euros to 60,000 euros for serious sanctions, including the organization of meetings, parties or any other type of act or event of a public or private nature and in public and private spaces, in which produce agglomerations that prevent or hinder the adoption of preventive sanitary measures.

It is also considered a serious offense , the breach of the limits of capacity or maximum number of people allowed in establishments or activities, when they do not constitute a minor or very serious offense.

Regarding very serious infractions , with penalties between 60,001 and 600,000 euros, the commercialization of meetings, parties or any other type of act or event of a public or private nature and in public and private spaces, in which crowds occur that prevent or hinder the adoption of preventive sanitary measures.

In addition, the breach of the limits of capacity or maximum number of people allowed in establishments or activities when it produces a risk or very serious damage to the health of the population. For this purpose, breaches affecting more than 150 people are set as very serious.
