On July 10th, local time, WHO held a regular press conference on new coronary pneumonia. The head of the WHO health emergency project, Michael Ryan, said that WHO had noticed unexplained pneumonia in Kazakhstan and recent cases of pneumonia in Kazakhstan. There are multiple explanations for the growth, and WHO is working with local agencies to investigate.

Michael Ryan pointed out that there has also been a surge in new cases of new pneumonia in Kazakhstan, with more than 10,000 laboratory-confirmed cases reported in the past seven days. WHO is studying the actual local testing conditions and quality to prevent false negative samples of new coronary pneumonia in other pneumonia samples. Many cases of unexplained pneumonia may be new coronary pneumonia cases. WHO is also studying X-rays of unexplained pneumonia cases to see if they are consistent with the symptoms of new coronary pneumonia.

Michael Ryan also emphasized that atypical pneumonia may occur anywhere at any time, and may be caused by microorganisms or diseases such as Legionella, Chlamydia, and influenza. Therefore, although WHO believes that many unexplained pneumonia cases in Kazakhstan are actually new cases of pneumonia, they will remain open until they are fully diagnosed.
