10 July 2020 A 47-year-old woman, on vacation in a tourist village on the Adriatic coast of Otranto, in Salento, was attacked by a wolf while jogging in the pine forest near the beach. 118 health workers intervened on the spot, who transported the woman to the emergency room of the Scorrano hospital, were treated with scratches and bites on the lower back and legs. In some cases it was necessary to resort to stitches. It was the same woman who told of being attacked by the animal. The carabinieri were informed of the incident. This is the second attack reported in the area, a Sic area where several wolf specimens have long been sighted. A few weeks ago the animal, probably the same one who wanders in the area, generally showing an unusual meekness and familiarity with the bathers, had torn the dress from a girl who was also a guest in the village.
