- What is the new format? -

No more round-trip matches, the rule of goals "double counting" away and the "remontadas"! To allow the resumption of the 2020 edition of the continental queen competition, UEFA has adopted a "new look" tournament, which will be played on single knockout matches, from 12 to 23 August, on neutral ground in Lisbon (Portugal).

The matches will be played between the Alvalade stadium, where Sporting is played, and the Luz stadium, lair of Benfica, which will host the final.

If UEFA still hoped to welcome the public in mid-June, it noted the revival of the Covid-19 in the Portuguese capital and its surroundings. She said Thursday that the meetings would be held behind closed doors until "further notice".

- Who participates ? -

Four teams have already qualified for the quarter-finals: Paris SG, RB Leipzig (GER), Atalanta Bergamo (ITA) and Atlético Madrid (ESP).

There are still four other tickets to distribute after the last four round of 16 which will be played behind closed doors on August 7 and 8 between Bayern Munich (GER) and Chelsea (ENG), Barcelona (ESP) and Naples (ITA) ), Manchester City (ENG) and Real Madrid (ESP), and Juventus (ITA) against Lyon (FRA), on the pitch of the first city, as confirmed by UEFA on Thursday.

After his first leg victory (1-0), Lyon will therefore go to Turin, Chelsea to Munich to challenge Bayern wide first leg winner (3-0), Real on the field of City after their defeat ( 2-1) at the Santiago-Bernabeu, and Naples at Barcelona after their draw (1-1) conceded at home.

- How does the draw work? -

There are three draws: quarter-finals, semi-finals and final, "to determine administratively the team which will play at home during the final", according to UEFA regulations.

Even if all eight participants in the "Final 8" are not yet known, the confrontations will be determined on Friday before the end of the round of 16, August 7-8.

There is no top seed or country protection. Each team can meet any of its opponents.
