10 July 2020Roberto Tomasi, current CEO of Autostrade, has been entered on the register of suspects in the investigation on the sound-absorbing panels installed on the Italian motorway network, not in terms of, but for the presence in the 'new works committee', the technical body which evaluated Aspi's investments before they were submitted to the company's board of directors for financing, Repubblica and Secolo XIX report today.

Aspi: Tomasi has already clarified to the judicial authority - "With regard to some press reports concerning the involvement of Eng. Roberto Tomasi in an investigation concerning the compliance of the installation of some absorbent barriers on the motorway network, it should be noted that the Ad has already had the opportunity to fully clarify his position to the Judicial Authority ". This is stated in a note released by Autostrade per l'Italia regarding press reports. "In the meeting, which was held last January 2020 at the Genoa Public Prosecutor's Office - explains the note - Eng. Tomasi, in the spirit of maximum transparency, provided full collaboration, providing any information available, useful for the specific investigation Tomasi made it clear that his participation in the Aspi Major Works Committee was only for the purpose of presenting some projects to upgrade the network, of which he was directly responsible at the time. These projects never included sound-absorbing barriers investigated - installed on 60 km on a total of 3,000 km of the Aspi network - for which Tomasi has never had any direct or indirect responsibility ".
