The traffic engineers at Karlskrona municipality pull off the plastic from the new sign at the entrance to the Amiralen parking. From now on, traffic bans will apply between 23-05 in several places around Lyckeby.

The reason is several indications that several people are gathering with cars driving around the parking lot and playing loud music. It is degraded and plantings are damaged and both businesses and residents nearby are disturbed by this.

- We get a lot of talk about driving fast at certain times. We also see an increase in litter around these areas, which entails cleaning costs, says Johan Lindh, one of the municipality's traffic engineers.

Can issue fines

The police can confirm the picture and believe it is a phenomenon that is being fought in several places in the municipality. But Lyckeby has long been hit hard and it is noticed in the register.

- Only between January and March this year have we received 18 reports, says Marcus Henningsson, group and area manager for the local police in Karlskrona.

The new traffic ban applies to both passenger cars and mopeds and allows the police to act significantly wider. Now every policeman can act with fines if you discover situations that violate the ban.

- This gives us 24/7 surveillance, we hope to overcome the problem now, says Marcus Henningsson.
