- do you find it?

- Yes, finally, half an hour ago, thank God.

- Blessing.

-Thank you, and the offense to you, God willing.

Perhaps that was the strangest situation I had encountered in such cases, and I never understood it at the time, who did not find the bodies of their loved ones congratulating those who found them, and those who found them thanked them and wished for them to find their loved ones soon.

For the sake of hope, the bereaved continues to wish decisive news about the fate of his lost, and if all indications inevitably point to his death, he wants conclusive evidence to eliminate this torment, even if this evidence is a lifeless corpse. He never relaxes, never lives.

If a person loses a loved one, this is a calamity, but he does not find his body, it is the greatest calamity.

Now I remembered the father of a famous European athlete, his son's plane fell into the sea, and his death was confirmed, but they did not find his body. His son's friends and loved ones came to his mourners, so he said to them: Please, if you love him, find his body first.

More than three thousand families in Bosnia and Herzegovina are still living this pain as a result of the Srebrenica massacre. Imagine a quarter of a century has passed, and the mother or wife does not know where the corpse of her boyfriend, who was killed by the Serbs in the most horrific massacre in Europe during the war, a quarter of a century passes, and nothing happens except that The wound grows.

The Serbs did not commit crime once; Rather, twice, after they buried their victims, and after the war ended, and they realized that the international community would start the investigation, they would excavate these graves, and they would take from these and put in them a diabolical plan to mix the remains of the victims between different graves even if they were at great distances, thereby mixing the bones. Together, it is difficult for the families of the victims to identify them. A local newspaper says: The body of one of them, thanks to DNA tests, was found in eleven cemeteries. They think about the torture of the families of the victims, they kill them again.

Are you asking me about the most difficult situation I went through?

You expect to tell you about an incident in a battle, but it is not like that. It was the most difficult day when I decided to prepare a documentary about some families of Srebrenica victims, and they gathered in a suburb of Sarajevo.

I and my team had to spend several days between them - women only - the whole neighborhood was inhabited temporarily by only women who were victims of the massacre, who lost their children or their husbands.

The daily details are terrible, each one entering her home and leaving to show us a trace of her lover, or opening a small box as if her treasure to take out a shirt for her husband, or shoes for her son, or even a small notebook, or a scrap of an old message, anything, anything that bears the smell of the betrayed.

On the streets, old people sit all day long, do not talk, stare at nothing.

Do you console them?

What can you tell them and you, the foreign journalist, who will leave and return to his loved ones?

Are you silent?

Either way they express respect. Consolation or silence?

You ask them to tell their story, you feel that you participate in the crime again, you wake up all the memories, all the events, all the little details, more questions, seek more details, the river of tears drowns them, and I from time to time scarce my face here or there, they should not be insinuating Any tear in my eyes, perhaps they are surprised: What is your business?

I remember what Ghassan Kanafani said in his masterpiece Returning to Haifa: All the tears of the earth cannot hold a small boat that can accommodate two parents searching for their missing child.

I admit my disability, by virtue of my work I have experienced such a situation a lot, and although the word is my craft, I have never managed to describe the feelings of this mother, this wife, or this daughter, and she holds the image of her lover and regains memories.

Perhaps - and you are asking me about the most difficult situation - I remember in 2010, that is, fifteen years after the tragedy occurred, I was present at the annual celebration of the anniversary of the eleventh of July in which his body was discovered and his family recognized him during the past year.

A majestic scene, hundreds of relatives gather, the coffins covered in green as if it were a new forest that suddenly came out of the ground, a mother raised her son's coffin as though she was paving it as a small one, another that removes from the top of the coffin some of the dust that was stuck to it before it disappeared the dirt, as if it was doing what it was doing If something gets stuck in his shirt, he is small.

Prayer is held, then the attendees rush to burial, the sounds of wailing are everywhere, as if the accident happened yesterday, not before fifteen years ago.

I asked myself whether the perpetrators realize the extent of their crime? How can a person be so monster?

Who can - whatever the reasons - find an excuse for this crime?

After the war, I imagined that Srebrenica had ended ... and the fact is that she is still growing.

The world still betrays Bosnia as the United Nations betrayed it as a safe area, but it did not protect it, as Nobel awarded its prize to Serbian writer Peter Handke for 2019, and he publicly supported the perpetrators of the massacres that took place against Muslims in all the region, and wished to Public talk reported by Belgrade TV that he is "an Orthodox monk fighting for Kosovo", and even the former Kosovo foreign minister Petrett Selimi said, cynically, to award him the award: What next? Peace Prize for Assad?

The world still betrays Bosnia when it is running its affairs and at the same time refuses to rein in Serbian leaders who seem more extremist than those who fought the war, and still insists on its dream of a greater Serbia.

Srebrenica grew up until it spread to Syria, Iraq, Yemen and Libya, and there was no "fourth" in Egypt soon.

Beware of forgetting, trust all Srebrenica among you, search for all legal ways to try the perpetrators, do not let your patience run out, for the souls of the victims await the saved from us.
