- I am not surprised that we are examined considering that we were the first in the county to receive covid-19 at one of our elderly homes, says Lars-Olof Petersson (S), chairman of the Alvesta municipality's care committee.

IVO presented a list of 91 homes where there will be an in-depth supervision. Two of these accommodations are in Alvesta. The 91 residents have an elevated risk profile, according to IVO. But exactly what the elevated risk profile means is stated to vary from case to case.

"Had acted differently"

Lars-Olof Petersson believes that the municipality would have acted differently if it had been known that a coronary pandemic would spread throughout the world.

- The pandemic came very quickly. But of course we would have acted differently if we had known that the pandemic was coming, he says.

But even though you had the same conditions as other municipalities, you are one of the hardest hit. How is it that?

- I think you should be careful about accusing someone of having handled the pandemic well and another of having handled the pandemic badly. If we wait and see about say one year, it is probably more relevant to compare and draw conclusions about how it differs between different municipalities, because we are in different stages of the pandemic.

"Should have acted faster"

Christer Brincner (KD), second vice chair of the care committee, welcomes the review and hopes that it can lead to security for both staff and carers in the future. Christer Brincner says that he is largely satisfied with how the municipality has handled the infection, but that one should have acted faster on two points.

- We should have both informed the staff and introduced a visitor ban on our elderly homes earlier, he says.
