Prime Minister Jean Castex announced on Wednesday his desire to increase the means of justice from 2021, after a visit to the Bobigny court. "There is a programming law voted by the current majority and I announce to you that as from 2021 we will accelerate the realization of it", he affirmed, after this visit carried out in company of the Minister of Justice Eric Dupond -Moretti.
During this visit "we looked at the working conditions" with the objective "to tell all the judicial personnel and the whole of the Nation that the modalities of operation of the judicial public service are at the heart of our priorities" .
Willingness to "make this subject a priority"
"A republic like ours, especially here in Seine-Saint-Denis, assumes that the public service of justice serving all citizens works the best possible," he added.
"Efforts have already been undertaken by the previous government," he said, referring to "staff reinforcements" and "an ambitious real estate project, the first installment of which should be delivered in 2024". The head of government also paid tribute to the qualities of the new Minister of Justice, a “very great personality in the world of justice”, who “embodies this will” of the executive “to make this subject a priority”.

An increase in the justice budget
"The Prime Minister has told us that there should be an increase in the justice budget, hopefully substantial," she added. The 2020 Justice budget, voted in 2019, stood at more than 7.5 billion euros and up 4%. A substantial increase, but nevertheless less than the trajectory set in the 2018-2022 budget programming law.
