The United States has crossed the threshold of three million confirmed cases of the emerging coronavirus (Covid-19), less than a month after the toll on infections on its soil crossed the two million threshold, according to US Vice President Mike Pence and Johns Hopkins University.

"We have so far examined more than 39 million Americans," Pence told a press conference at the White House. "Of those, more than three million Americans were found injured, and more than 1.3 million Americans recovered."

For its part, Johns Hopkins University reported 131,521 deaths out of 3,009,611 injuries.

The US Vice President arrived at the press conference with a muzzle.

Pence pointed out that the most dangerous states currently with regard to the outbreak of the epidemic are Arizona, Florida and Texas, speaking of "preliminary indications" of stabilizing the percentage of infected people.

Pence called for continued efforts "because initial indicators are beginning to emerge."

The White House coordinator for pandemic affairs Covid-19, Debra Perks, announced that cases of admission to the emergency department to deal with symptoms of Covid-19 were declining in Florida.
