The People's Daily newspaper reported that a landslide buried nine people today, Wednesday, in the Chinese province of Hubei, after torrential rains that did not occur for decades caused floods that killed more than 100 people.

It is noteworthy that Hubei is the same region in which Wuhan is located, and the new Corona Virus (Covid-19) first appeared in December of last year.

The newspaper said the landslide occurred in Huangmei Province and rescue efforts were underway.

In the period from June 1 to July 7, the rains in Hubei, Anhui, Zhejiang and Chongqing reached their highest levels at this time of year since 1961, amid rain in some places two to three times higher than usual, according to the Meteorological Administration Chinese.
