It has been 16 years since the double murder in Linköping, where an eight-year-old boy and a 56-year-old woman were stabbed to death in a residential area in Linköping early on a rainy Tuesday morning in October.
With the help of genealogy, a 37-year-old man has now been arrested on suspicion in the case - he has also admitted the murders. But the prosecution will be delayed, says prosecutor Britt-Louise Viklund, who is the lead investigator.
- It's a great investigation. Even though the investigation is complete, it will take time before the prosecution becomes clear, she tells SVT News East.
Undergoing investigationThe suspected man admitted the extension without a detention hearing and he is currently at the forensic medical facility in Huddinge to undergo a major forensic psychiatric investigation. The prosecution time has now been extended to August 5, but it may take longer than that.
- I can already say that it probably is not finished until then, says Britt-Louise Wiklund.
