The roof fire at Lerbäckskolan in Lund was discovered at 0:30 on Tuesday morning. There was a man near the fire scene and police initially stated that the man who was taken in for questioning, and later released, is still suspected of murder.

Later in the day, press spokesman Ewa-Gun Westford did not want to confirm the information.

- There was no fire that had started naturally. Exactly how the fire started, the technical investigation shows. We have a group that is working to find out what is happening with regard to the fires in Lund, says Ewa-Gun Westford, adding:

- Are these fires that have a connection? There are people who make fires, but there are also "look alikes". Therefore, we must look at the fires individually but also in a larger context.

About twenty fires in no time

The fire at Lerbäckskolan is the latest fire in Lund in a short time. Since March, there have been around twenty locations around the city, of which just over half of the fires have been to schools.

- We take a lot of preventive measures. From the fact that we have increased the adult presence in the city to the fact that we have more guardians. We have also set up heat cameras in exposed places, ”says Håkan Nilsson, security manager in Lund Municipality.
