Sibeth Ndiaye and Christophe Castaner, respectively ex-spokesperson and Minister of the Interior of the government, paid the price on Monday evening for the reshuffle. Some see it as the President's desire to renounce a page in its history, but the main stakeholders are doing well.

Two emblematic ministers paid the price on Monday evening for the reshuffle: Sibeth Ndiaye and Christophe Castaner, respectively ex-spokesperson and Minister of the Interior, have given way to Gabriel Attal and Gérald Darmanin. Almost two traveling companions are now on the sidelines, and this has not gone unnoticed. "I don't understand that we are sacrificing them, it's disgusting", is indignant among the ranks of the majority.

"They remain allies"

Some see in it Emmanuel Macron's desire to renounce a page in his history. "It's a slap," says a macronist executive. The two main stakeholders react less strongly. Monday evening, the entourage of Sibeth Ndiaye said that the spokeswoman refused several ministries. "She wants to move on, it's a family and personal choice," says her office. In private, Christophe Castaner has shown himself to be a philosopher. "He knows he has sometimes screwed up," said one of his friends.

At the Elysée, we pay tribute to the two ministers. "Sibeth leaves with dignity", says an adviser, when a close friend of Emmanuel Macron promises that "both remain political allies". A historic walker already imagines Sibeth Ndiaye playing a role for 2022 ... but outside the government: "it's from the outside that it's going to be played", he said before adding: "Give him an appointment in a year! "
