Bolsonaro confirmed, in a television interview, reported by the newspaper "Estado": "He was infected with the emerging coronavirus after the results of the tests showed positive."
The Brazilian newspaper added that "on Monday evening, the Presidency of the Republic of Brazil issued a statement stating that Bolsonaro was in good health and announced today that he was HIV positive.
At the end of March, the Brazilian president largely downplayed the importance of the Corona virus in a televised speech. "Looking at my athlete's past, I wouldn't worry if I became infected with the virus. I wouldn't feel anything. At worst, it would be like a little flu, a little cold," he said.
It is reported that Bolsonaro attended some events and closely mixed with the United States Ambassador to Brazil during the July 4th celebrations.
