The Brazilian newspaper added that "on Monday evening, the Presidency of the Republic of Brazil issued a statement stating that Bolsonaro was in good health and announced today that he was HIV positive.

At the end of March, the Brazilian president largely downplayed the importance of the Corona virus in a televised speech. "Looking at my athlete's past, I wouldn't worry if I became infected with the virus. I wouldn't feel anything. At worst, it would be like a little flu, a little cold," he said.
