Companies backed by renowned artists Kanye West and Francis Ford Coppola are among the recipients of the loan program that the US government has launched to help companies survive the coronavirus crisis, according to a list published on Monday.

Billionaire rapper West Yeezy's clothing brand has received approval for a loan of between two and five million dollars (between 1.7 and 4.5 million euros) from the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) , the Administration of US Small Business (SBA). The company says the loan could save 160 jobs, according to the SBA.

The rapper has jumped onto the covers in recent days after announcing his candidacy for the November election.

The PPP has been launched to assist business and non-profit workers with less than 500 employees affected by the crisis caused by the coronavirus pandemic. The list published on Monday has offered a detailed accounting of the recipients of these grants.

Hollywood, mortally wounded by the cessation of filming

Several Hollywood production companies have also applied for these loans after filming was suspended in mid-March, a blockade that left tens of thousands of workers unemployed. Some of the main names are The Jim Henson Company , creator of the Muppets , and The Apatow Company , directed by writer and director Judd Apatow and producer of numerous series.

An Apatow spokeswoman has confirmed that the company has received $ 160,000 from the program, just over 141,000 euros, but had immediately returned the money. The Jim Henson company received approximately $ 2 million, which has allowed it to keep all of its staff 75 workers, according to company spokeswoman Nicole Goldman .

Another prominent Hollywood member who has accessed these grants is Francis Ford Coppola for his Francis Ford Coppola Presents brand , a lifestyle firm that markets movies, wine, and other products.

Cinema operators, who were forced to close in March, have also applied for these loans. Theaters approved on the show include the California- based Laemmle Theater and Regency Theaters , according to the list released by the government.
