Last week, the result of the large forensic psychiatric investigation of Esmeralda's mother was completed. It showed that she did not suffer from any serious mental disorder, either at the time of Esmeralda's death or later. Thus, it became clear that she could be sentenced to prison.

But on Monday, defense lawyer Per Oehme filed a request for personal investigation of the Frivården in Norrköping so that Esmeralda's mother should be sentenced to contract care instead of prison, that is, she should receive treatment instead.

Investigated for contract maintenance

On Tuesday, the District Court decided that Frivården in Norrköping should investigate whether contract care can be an alternative to prison for Esmeralda's mother, but such a decision was already in April in connection with a detention hearing.

- But it could not be implemented then because (Esmeralda's mother, red note) was the subject of psychiatric forced care. However, compulsory care has ceased following the Swedish Forensic Medicines Agency's assessment that there is no serious mental disorder, writes councilor Fredrik Lenter to SVT Nyheter Öst.

Appeal the arrest

Attorney Oehme will on Tuesday demand that the arrest of Esmeralda's mother be lifted and that she be released on foot.

- There is no longer any reason for her to be detained. There is no danger of escape, says Per Oehme.

Councilman Fredrik Lenter reasoned differently.

- Detention reasons still exist, he writes to SVT News East

The personal investigation of Esmeralda's mother should be completed by July 28.
