  The spokesman said the two officers were responsible for reporting any entry into the restricted area. "They did not fulfill their responsibilities." The spokesman also said that the two will be investigated and appropriate actions will be taken.

  On the morning of July 2nd, an earth landslide accident occurred in Huika Village, Pagan District, and nearly 200 individual jade mine pickers were washed away.

  According to statistics, at least 174 people were killed and 54 injured. To this end, the Myanmar authorities provided 500,000 kyats (approximately 2,500 yuan) in compensation to each family of the victims.

  The Pagan region is the largest producer of jade in Myanmar, and collapses of abandoned earth mounds formed by mining often result in casualties. A collapse accident in November 2015 killed more than 110 people.
