Invited to the microphone of Europe 1, the president of the Magistrates' Union, Céline Parisot, reacted strongly to the appointment of the lawyer Éric Dupond-Moretti to the post of Minister of Justice. She fears "a confrontation" between the new minister and the judiciary, a profession with which he has never been tender during his career.

INTERVIEW

The appointment of Eric Dupond-Moretti remains the major surprise of the reshuffle operated by Emmanuel Macron and his new Prime Minister, Jean Castex. But the man with 145 acquittals is not necessarily popular with the judges and magistrates whom he has often mistreated. Céline Parisot, the president of the Union of Magistrates (USM), expressed her distrust this Tuesday morning at the microphone of Pierre de Vilno on Europe 1.

"Do not stay on the sidelines it may have for the moment."

"Appointing the Minister of Justice someone who deeply despises the magistrates and who has the habit of insulting us by calling us endogamous caste or barbouzes, that poses a real problem for us," immediately regretted Céline Parisot, always shocked by Éric Dupond-Moretti's behavior towards certain magistrates.

"These are words of contempt and disregard. We hope that beyond these words, there are others that are those of a minister and not those of a defense lawyer." Céline Parisot therefore hopes that Eric Dupond-Moretti will have "acts which demonstrate that the Minister of Justice knows how to take care of all the components of his ministry and not to remain on the preconceptions that he may have for the moment . "

"We want dialogue and reforms"

Even if Céline Parisot admits to "not really knowing what to expect", the magistrate would like "Acquittator" to make strong decisions. "What we want is dialogue and reforms because there is a lot to do. We hope that these do not focus solely on the alleged irresponsibility of judges, since Eric Dupond-Moretti s "is very gaussé of that", she tackles before drawing up the missions of the new minister.

"It is not only the responsibilities of magistrates to reform in our ministry. There are a lot of things and in particular a budget problem which prevents us from working properly. We saw it during the health crisis, it was catastrophic. These are real problems. "

When he was a defense lawyer, Éric Dupond-Moretti was in constant confrontation with the magistrates. The USM hopes "now that it is minister" another "positioning". The next few weeks should quickly give an answer.
