2016: 100 million for new site

The project would create a whole new website for the Swedish Employment Service. That was not the case. However, both time and budget frameworks were cracked.

- We had far too optimistic planning in our original plan, commented manager Erik Sandström.

2017: Sentenced for illegal consultant purchases

The agency had made 30 illegal purchases of consulting services, so-called direct procurement.

Now they were fined a quarter of a million after an investigation where, according to the Swedish Competition Authority, "no mitigating circumstance emerged".

"Yes, that is totally unacceptable," said Director General Mikael Sjöberg.

2018: Crossover service

The new Jobskills service had barely started before it could be stopped.

It would take asylum seekers closer to work but could be used for refugee espionage - and had been launched despite internal warnings.

"We haven't listened enough to each other," said attorney general Anna Middelman.

The decisions surrounding Jobskills ended up with prosecutors. Today, the service itself is severely limited.

2019: Robot made thousands of wrong decisions

A new robot made automated decisions on sanctions against unemployed people who made mistakes. But in many cases, the robot did wrong.

"It is serious if people have not received the compensation to which they are entitled," said a surprised Labor Minister Ylva Johansson (S).

The problems had been extensive, but an internal alarm had not been taken seriously.

2020: Defied lawyers

The authority's newly established Information Security Council would ensure that old mistakes were not repeated.

When IT executives wanted to launch a new service, the Information Security Council said away, since data was stored on US servers. But the launch was completed anyway.

"We have made the assessment that it is not sufficiently problematic to close the service," said the manager in charge.

Shortly before SVT's publication, however, the message came that the authority had changed.
