A 57-year-old man was convicted by the criminal court of Guingamp (Côtes d'Armor) for stealing money from his wife, just deceased, reports Ouest-France . The facts go back to the summer of 2018. When he has just lost his partner, the man makes two transfers of 2,000 and 900 euros to his account. He also empties the safe that the couple owned at the bank, notably seizing the jewelry. When the children of the deceased find out, they file a complaint.

At the stand, the defendant defends himself and tries to persuade the court of his good faith. He accuses the children of "wanting to put him outside". The couple lived twenty months together and the woman's money had gradually evaporated.

The accused was sentenced to one year probationary suspension and will have to compensate the children up to 2,600 euros for the theft. Non-pecuniary damage was estimated at 800 euros, specifies Ouest-France .
