Kuwaiti government spokesman, Tariq Al-Muzram, announced that the Council of Ministers decided to instruct the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs to take the necessary measures to allow Friday prayers to be held in mosques.

 The Almuzram added in a statement today, Monday: "To provide all guarantees to implement the health requirements set by the health authorities, as of Friday, July 17th."

Kuwait had announced that some mosques would be reopened to all prayers except Friday, June 10, after a 3-month closure due to the emerging Corona virus crisis (Covid-19).

The Kuwaiti Minister of Justice and Awqaf and Islamic Affairs, Advisor Fahd Al-Afasy, issued a ministerial decision at the time allowing the reopening of mosques to receive worshipers to perform congregational prayers and Friday prayers at the Grand Mosque in the capital provided that Friday prayers be broadcast on Kuwait State TV.
