Barbara Pompili started with the Greens in 2000, and in 2012, she was elected MEP Europe Ecologie-Les Verts (EELV) in the 2nd district of the Somme. In 2015, Barbara Pompili, who rather represents the right wing of the party, opposes the electoral agreements with the Left Front and she leaves the Greens for the Green Party. Then during the mandate of François Hollande, in 2016, she was appointed Secretary of State for Biodiversity.

Barbara Pompili supports the candidacy of Emmanuel Macron for the presidency and in 2017, she joined La République en Marche.

The new minister should have work, because the President of the Republic committed, before the citizens of the Climate Convention , to quickly implement 146 of the 149 measures they propose to reduce gas emissions to greenhouse effect.

Part of the proposals should be taken into account in the recovery plan by the end of July, the others may be the subject of a specific bill to be presented in the coming months.

So far, the arbitrations of the Head of State have done little for the ecology, but perhaps the ministry of Barbara Pompili will be more fortunate.
