A man died drowned on Sunday afternoon in a lake in the Hautes-Pyrénées. It was nearly 4:00 p.m. when the emergency services intervened in the town of Préchac, near Argelès-Gazost in an attempt to resuscitate a 44-year-old person.

According to information from France 3 Occitanie collected from the public prosecutor, the man could not swim and was probably swept away by the current. These are witnesses who spotted his body. Out of the water in cardiac arrest, he could not be resuscitated.

Four drownings the previous weekend

Another man drowned during the weekend in Albi. Aged 29, he fell into the water from the quay below the Palais de la Berbie, very close to Sainte-Cécile Cathedral in the night from Saturday to Sunday.

The previous weekend, four fatal drownings had been recorded in Haute-Garonne.
