In more than 35 years of career, Éric Dupond-Moretti has snatched up some 150 acquittals: extraordinary criminal, who says he has embraced the profession of lawyer by detesting the death penalty, has pleaded in many media cases, in favor, for example, of footballer Karim Benzema, brother of Mohamed Merah or even Jérôme Cahuzac and Patrick Balkany.

Recently, he had a fencing pass with Jean-Luc Mélenchon, while defending the police in the case of the search of rebellious France. In parallel with his career, the 59-year-old lawyer, known for his hard-hitting verve, sometimes became an actor, writer or involved in politics, as when he supported Martine Aubry at the municipal elections in 2008 and then at the socialist primary for three years. later. The new Keeper of the Seals takes up his duties in a delicate context for a justice whose independence is under threat, as illustrated by the recent controversy over the functioning of the National Financial Prosecutor's Office.

Éric Dupond-Moretti will no doubt be eagerly awaited on this question, he who had virulent remarks at the end of June against certain magistrates of this prosecution, after learning that his phone had been targeted in the case of Nicolas Sarkozy's wiretapping. We are crazy,  " he exclaimed, referring to a "  minority of skidding judges  " and warning against a "  republic of judges  " dangerous to democracy.
