In 1929, 8-year-old Yu Lan fled to her grandfather in Shenyang. That year, Shen Jilan was just born.
Their childhood was spent in war and turmoil. After the outbreak of the "September 18" incident, 10-year-old Yu Lan fled with his family from Northeast to Beiping and Tianjin, but soon after he settled down, he fell into Beiping again. Until the autumn harvest last year, the villagers of Xigou Village could still see 90-year-old Shen Jilan holding a sickle to harvest corn; and 97-year-old Yu Lan was undoubtedly invited to appear in the public welfare movie "All Like You".
On the evening of June 27, 2020, Yu Lan died at the age of 99. In the early morning of the 28th, Shen Jilan died at the age of 91. On the occasion of surviving, Shen Jilan deliberately explained two sentences: "The funeral is simple", "The subsidies and expenses related to the recipient of the "Republic Medal", and pay the party fees."
