Emmanuel Macron and his Prime Minister Jean Castex continued their consultations on Sunday with "the objective of forming a new government for Monday in the day," announced the Elysee.

The composition of the government should include "around twenty ministers and deputy ministers," said the presidency.

The current government has 16 ministers and three deputy ministers, with 17 secretaries of state.

According to a relative of the head of state, the announcement should be made "in two stages", first the ministers, then the secretaries of state.

Jean Castex must also receive deputies and senators from the majority on Monday evening, said a parliamentary source, confirming information from Franceinfo.

After announcing his policy statement for the middle of next week, the Prime Minister tweeted on Sunday that it would intervene "before mid-July".

"We cannot waste time choosing people. And I will not be long in clarifying my intentions by delivering my general policy speech before mid-July," said the head of government.

The President of the National Assembly Richard Ferrand at the same time evoked to him the possibility of a postponement of the declaration of general policy of the Prime Minister "after July 14" and the speech of Emmanuel Macron planned around this date .
