The future of the crossroads is uncertain and as an alternative to the trains, Hallandstrafiken has proposed to use a bus between Halmstad and Värnamo via Hyltebruk instead. Hallandstrafiken believes that it is not economically justifiable to keep the trains because there are too few who travel with them. But that's something Evy Johansson doesn't agree with.

- I think it's a financial ruin if they are closed down. When you already have a railroad, why not use it ?, she says.

Big response

She believes that the railway is important, not least as a cultural heritage. The purpose of the name gathering is to show the residents' dissatisfaction that the trains now run the risk of disappearing - and the response has been great.

- I was happy when there were 15 people who thought the trains would be left but in just one day there were 500, she says.

She is particularly sad to see that the train days disappear together with the Krösatågen, an event that has meant a lot to Hylte Municipality. Evy Johansson also believes that trains should be an alternative in times like the corona pandemic.

- So should you get fully stuffed with people in a bus when you can take the train that is more surface and go faster just because the bus is cheaper ?, she says.

It is still unclear when a message can come about the future of the Crossroads.

Below, Daniel Modiggård, chief strategist at Hallandstrafiken, talks about how much you save on replacing trains by bus and what it would mean for travelers.
