William Lindeberg conducted the test in May this year and passed both personality test and talent test. But with the psychologist, it stopped.
- It felt like everything was going well. But what did not go well were the questions about whether you had been involved in traumatic experiences or if you had to call a police officer, he says.
According to William Lindeberg, he has lived a quiet life and mostly had contact with clients in previous jobs. Now the police wanted to know if he had seen any crime or any traffic accident.
- Apparently they wanted people to have had experience in taking care of people and that is where it happened.
His journal looks good. But it also says that he has "scarce experience of dealing with vulnerable people, quite unproven".
He noticed that the test did not go as well as he had hoped.
- It went worse and I couldn't answer her questions. I understand that she wants to know that you do not break down if you come to an exposed situation, he says.
At the same time, he thinks that the police should be able to find out in some way more than through the psychology test.
One in five passes the psychology test
The exam for police training consists of several parts and the psychology test is the part where most fail. The last three semesters have one in five that passed all other steps missed on the psychology test, which is usually the last.
William Lindeberg would have liked to have answered how to react to a fictitious scenario instead.
- The requirements state that you must be responsive, flexible, committed and responsible. There is nothing to say that you should have experienced things, had I known I would have expected to search, he says.
William Lindeberg was not admitted to the police education - instead he was told that if he wanted to become a police officer it was best to look for a job in the elderly care or pre-school. Then he could get the experience to take care of people who were needed.
What do you feel about it?
- I guess I have to gain some experience, but it is not preschool that I will invest in. I think I should try to get a job in the prison service instead.
