  • The environmental candidates and LREM beaten in the second round of the municipal elections in Lille filed an "electoral protest" before the administrative court.
  • Both blame "irregularities" during campaign and second round

"Many irregularities were brought to our attention during this campaign." For Violette Spillebout, head of the list (LREM) at the municipal elections in Lille, there is no question of giving up despite her large defeat on Sunday. One of his running mate decided to file an "electoral protest" this Friday with the administrative court.

He was imitated by the list led by Stéphane Baly (EELV). With only 227 votes late in the second round, environmentalists recounted the votes and also found "irregularities", without giving further details. The two requests were therefore filed, a few hours before the installation of Martine Aubry (PS) for her fourth mandate at the head of the town hall of Lille.

A "panegyric documentary"

In Violette Spillebout's camp, there is a file of 200 supporting documents. The reproaches range from “email sent, a few days before the election, by an association president subsidized by the town hall to call Aubry to vote” to “a high-level sportswoman hired on March 16 and who participated in a distribution of leaflets in his neighborhood before the second round ”.

Without forgetting a "documentary panegyric" on Martine Aubry broadcast by France 3 in November when she had not yet announced her candidacy. "The ambiguity between the mayor and the candidate has been cleverly maintained, which already constitutes an offense against electoral legislation," said Louis-Dominique Laugier, running mate and bearer of the complaint with the TA.

A “skewed” election

The latter also describes mentions erased in white on lists of signatures or even proxies wrongly accepted. "On a report, an assessor believes that a president of the polling station engaged in the drawdown of voters, which is prohibited," adds Ingrid Brûlant, another running mate. So many grievances that "distorted the election", according to Violette Spillebout.

Contacted, the mayor of Lille does not wish to react immediately, "not knowing the exact content of the appeal".
